What are the ingredients for a good car sound system?
yea i am new to the whole car audio thing. I just dont know what i really need to have a good sound system. I have a 2001 pontiac grand am. Im not picky on the room in the trunk but would like a little bit for school supplies. I dont have the biggest budget though. I listen to all genre’s of music mostly rock and rap so i need bass. i hope someone can help me. thanks, Gavin
Well not sure what your budget is , but here are a few options with a price range attached…
Minimal $200 – $300 (~ 50 Watts RMS total)
Head unit & front speakers
Basic $500 – $700 (~200-400 Watts RMS)
Minimal + 4 channel amp (2 channels bridged to sub) + single 8-10″ sub.
Intermediate $800 – $1100 (`600-1000 Watts RMS)
Basic + rear speakers + mono amp for sub. Up the sub to a 12″
High end (1000 Watts up)
intermediate, with speakers upgraded to component sets (at least front) and going dual 12 or 15″ subs. this also requires alternator upgrade ect… probably not what you want.
I am betting that the intermediate is where you’d want to be. if you listen to alot of rap you may even consider a 15″ sub.
