What is the difference between acoustic and bass guitar?
I just started playing acousic guitar. The bass guitar has a really cool sound to it and i want to be able to play it too, and i want to know what are the differences between those 2 guitars? If i know how to play acoustic can i play bass?
thanks! =)
If you just want to play root notes and stuff, bass is a piece of cake if you already know how to play guitar. If you really want to work it, to make it add to the rythum and feel of the song, it’s a bit different than playing guitrar, and takes some special training.
A good bass player can add as much to the song as a good lead guitarist or lead singer. You just don’t notice it because it’s not out in front of the song.
Also, if you play the bass you need some kind of amp, increasing the cost, whereas with acoustic guitar you don’t, unless you play an acoustic bass. But very few songs use an acoustic bass. Most use electric Bass. You can use an acoustic bass for any song you want but it has a different sound than electric bass, although they have the same pitch range.

Mer De Noms $8.80 “A Perfect Circle is not a side project,” proclaim the members of Perfect Circle. It’s a caution worth heeding, since the most identifiable name in the band is that of vocalist Maynard James Keenan, lead singer of Tool. On the other hand, one wouldn’t be much inclined to file this one under “side project” anyway. The musicians involved go to great lengths to create something distinctive, and if th… |

Nothing’s Shocking $2.00 Though the songs aren’t quite as good as those on Ritual De Lo Habitual, this album is much more consistent, with a heavy rock-funk-punk mix that’s a pleasure to hear. The slower songs (especially “Summertime Rolls” and “Jane Says”) work well, while the up-tempo material–in particular the closer “Pig’s in Zen”–is both catchy and ambitious. It’s a fine album overall, and if the band’s Zeppelin-wa… |
